Mandolin Tasting: Saturday 11:00am - 12:00pm

A fun way to hear your instrument in a controlled environment -- Bring your mandolin!

What to Expect

Step #1
Listen to Tom play a handful of basic riffs and 'control tunes' on his 2001 Sullivan F mandolin

What colors do you hear? How resonate is each string? How punctuated are the chops? What words would you use to describe the sound?

Pay attention to the unique qualities of the instrument
 Step # 2
Listen to Tom play the same handful of riffs on your mandolin, and the mandolins of other attendees

What are the differences? What accounts for these variations in sound? What mechanics should you be aware of? A description of your mandolin's builder/manufacturer is requested, woods used, strings, age, etc. This will be shared before being played.

Led by Tom Brisk

Since the 80's, Tom has performed with some of the leading bands around the state, at all of the local festivals. His traditional approach to mandolin has been appreciated by players and listeners as 'the real deal'
